Great things are happening everyday at Putnam City High School. Here is an overview of our athletic success the last couple of weeks. 

Last Week:

Last week was another good week for the Pirates! Baseball and Soccer got going with preseason tilts last week. Spring sports are off and running!

Winter sports continued with success last week as well. 

Our Men’s and Women’s basketball teams both got key wins on the road against Enid last week!

 

PIRATE WRESTLING IS ON A ROLL! 

The Women’s Wrestling team qualified 5… that’s right 5 wrestlers into the state tournament. With all five taking home medals at regionals

120- Angie Bezner (3rd at regionals)

130- Alexis Ahtone (2nd at regionals)

155- Ryleigh Lefkowitz (2nd at regionals)

170- Ashley Maldonado-Gamas (2nd at regionals)

190- Tessa Goodner (1st at regionals)

Tessa already won the Junior High State Championship this year as well. 5 state qualifiers are not only a school record, but a PC district record as well.

The Men’s team qualified 1 wrester with 2 alternates. 

State Qualifier: 138- Monty Hall (5th at regionals)

Sate Alternates: 113- Jayden Henson (6th at regionals) and 157- Nate Brown (6th at regionals)

Our women’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay finished 14th at the State Swim Meet this weekend while setting a school record!

Our 4 swimmers competed in several other team and individual events over the weekend at state.

Congratulations to Coach Bealich and swimmers Mya Avdalovic, Madeline Boggs, Victoria Faith Lee, and Erynn White!

 

This Week:

Baseball and soccer both have games this week with Women’s Soccer at home against Southmoore on Thursday.

This week also features playoff basketball. 

The Lady Pirates will compete against Jenks on Tuesday night at 7:30pm. The game will be at Edmond Memorial. With 9 regular season wins this year the Lady Pirates have tripled their win total from the previous year. This has caught the attention of a lot of folks. Lady Pirate Basketball is back on the map.

News 9 will have a story this week about the success of our team under first year head coach, and 2010 Pirate alum, Porsche Young. 

The boys team will also begin their gold ball quest on Thursday as they take on Bixby Thursday night at 7:30 in Tulsa at Union High School.

The State Wrestling Tournament will be this weekend at the Fairgrounds. All our state qualifiers will be in action on Friday.
